Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
Agreed that RN T31 (as is) is NOT getting Mk41 VLS. BAE Systems gave Lockheed Martin the contract to equip the Type 26's in March 2018, 4 years before the ships even launched. We have seen no additional foreign military sales requests and no contracts to LM for more Mk41, HMS Venturer is to be laun...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
As far as know no Tomahawks fired at peer enemy, of those fired at Syria in April 2018 Russia claimed to have shot down substantial numbers, impossible to verify. "Russia claimed" I see the problem here :problem: I think given the success of storm shadow in Ukraine we now know how effecti...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
What can really be said about all this, any one with a passing knowledge of the Royal Navy knows we don't have a surface ship capable Land attack missile and this has been the case for over 30 years and now its a problem :wtf: I just don't know what to say here, we have spent years not making poor c...

Re: MBDA Storm Shadow Missile (RAF)
This is strictly from the companies point of view. If there is enough money anything can be done, but I wonder if MBDA has the floor space and the staff to start Storm Shadow production up again in conjunction with other orders? MBDA may be hesitant take people off CAAM and brimstone right now as th...

Re: MBDA Brimstone Missile (RAF)
I just thought the army was going with JAGM as Brimestone production lots were done and we would not have the stocks to supply both forces.

Surely Egypt are not going to object? The houthi attacks are on shipping that use the suez canal, if this effects shipping wont it effect Egypts income?

Re: Future cruise/anti-ship missiles
From the link above. In 2022, the programme was evaluating two missile concepts: a low observable subsonic cruise missile and a supersonic highly manoeuvrable missile, moving away from a previous focus on a hypersonic solution akin to the CVS401 Perseus. The current trajectory of the FC/ASW programm...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
I don't think anyone would complain if we got more Typhoons but if more funds becomes available the question becomes could we make better use of them somewhere else? Like getting our F-35 numbers up before Tempest comes along and gobbles up those procurement funds. (even tho I am loathed to give Loc...

HMS Diamond maybe?“Subsequently, Grant Shapps has said HMS Richmond is going to replace either HMS Diamond or HMS Lancaster so there is “not an escalation”.

In a statement to Parliament, the Secretary of State has confirmed that HMS Richmond will join HMS Diamond and HMS Lancaster in the gulf region in response to the serious maritime security situation in the Red Sea.

Re: The war in Ukraine
I think Ukraine would sink all Russian ships if they could. I suspect the frigates and such are in non Ukrainian ports, the Russians most likely got complacent and maybe thought Ukraine didn't have any missiles left or didn't think Ukraine would find out about the shipment.
