Comment: Clicking on the tweets and going to the Handlesblatt article this tweet does seem to be conflating SCAF with MGCS.

Sadly we could see Germany leverage their way into Tempest by offering to cease blocking the second order of Typhoons for Suadi Arabia. That would be quite tempting for HMG, but they should steer well clear of Germany nonetheless

I hope, as an Italian, that the saudis get in ASAP.

Why?

We have two productions factors in action, Know how and capital, we lack capital, while the Saudis bring in only capital, increasing the value of everyone's know how but specially of the italian one comparatively because we are the ones lacking most capital.

Second.

The Germans are almost in the same position of the Saudi they can bring mostly capital, and problems.

Getting both could be good for the original trio, because both competing in the same category they would race downwards in their offers.

and both bring problems. Problems that may or may not be worth their capital.
If people hear say no to Germany for it being too much of a risk partner, then they really can't say allowing SA will be beneficial.

Probably what the winds seem to blow for them, or looks like they blow for them, and we on UKDF aren't any different.

Truly mindblowing. I've lost count, but it's got to be 15+ separate occasion over the last 3-4 years where the imminent demise of the program has been announced in major media campaigns on claims coming from "thinktanks" and "analysts" aka antlanticist shills...

Yet somehow knowone seems to notice the glitch in the matrix lol.

It's like brexit all over again, if we just say things loud enough and often enough they surely will come true...

So for FCAS the Germans are in no hurry and the French want something sooner and that sooner maybe a updated version of Rafale.
And for MGCS again the French want something sooner and particularly don't see the German requirement for Rheinmetall to be involved. Nexter can do the gun and KMW the chassis keeping it all in house to KNDS. (Challenger 3 gives Rheinmetall a potential safety net, Rheinmetall gun\turret on a BAE chassis.)

Well it's a possibility of a uprated Rafale for sure but I'm thinking that FCAS Will still go ahead, still think German industry will want it no matter if French lead or not tbh ,and I'm sure Spain and possibly Belgium will want it also ,it's either that or F35A all round except France with uprated Rafale, zero chance of said partners buying GCAP (Germany, too big for a start and already operate f35b ,,and Belgium I think
