POLAND
Re: POLAND
Maybe we should obtain a number of these to replace or compliment the Army's Watchkeeper UAVs, also taking some of the burden of the RAQF's new UAVs and allowing a number to be allocated for maritime patrol duties.
Re: POLAND
Here is a YouTube video listing the majority of Polands planned aquisition over the next decade. IF the Country actually recieves all of this kit, it will probably become the major conventional military power in NATO's european theatre. Especially important are the procurement plans for the Army with around 1400 new MBTs comprising M1A1s, M1A2 SEPv3, K2 and K2PL platforms and substantial new artillery and air efence systems including 500 HIMARS and a large number of K-9 and K-9A2PL 155mm SPGs.

Re: POLAND
It would be interesting to see how many units it purchases. Poland is for sure taking their security seriously and so they should given they are so close to the Russians.Timmymagic wrote: ↑22 May 2023, 17:35 Poland continuing to arm up....

Interesting that they did not go for WedgeTail - i guess they are looking to procure a larger number of units and have greater flexibility over deployment. The Global is a multi-role platform whereas WedgeTail is dedicated to an AWACs type role.

Re: POLAND
Their focus will only be on AEW, and a little electronic surveillance and overland radar. The Maritime functionality will be low down their list. I don't think we'll see more than 2-3 in the order. But combined with Sweden's GlobalEye fleet, which might end up being 4 aircraft if they can sort a joint unit across Scandinavia, NATO's coverage areas and eyes into Russia/Belarus are massively enhanced. the disparity between forces in numbers and capability will be almost comical by 2030...TheLoneRanger wrote: ↑23 May 2023, 09:39 It would be interesting to see how many units it purchases. Re: POLAND
Poland just put in a big order....
Remember this is seperate from their CAMM order for the Pilica system, which was at least 800 missiles....
Translation
"Another contracts signed today, this time under the #NAREW program, cover the supply of essential elements of the short-range air and missile defense system, including 138 launchers and over a thousand #CAMM -ER missiles."
They'll have quite an AD system....
Pilica+ - A mix of CAMM, Piorun and truck mounted ZU-23-2 to protect their Patriot batteries
Narew - Standalone CAMM-ER system, 138 launchers...
Wisla - Patriot system with PAC-3 MSE.
In addition the Future Common Missile (CAMM-MR) may be developed as well as a cheaper interceptor fr the Patriot batteries (whether or not that is launched from Patriot launchers or additional Narew sttle vehicles is unknown at present). If they don't go ahead with that I expect they'll buy some PAC-2 GEM-T as a cheaper alternative to PAC-3 MSE. All this will take some time to standup though....up to 2035 is mentioned.
In addition there will be thousands of standalone Piorun launchers and I expect a mobile gun and missile system to protect armoured units, plus the inevitable anti-drone systems (one of which will be included in the Pilica system). Wouldn't shock me if all SAM batteries got some sort of close in gun/RF etc defence against drones like Pilica.

Re: POLAND
Not a new concept perhaps but interesting to see in relation to air to air work against Kamikaze drones.

Re: POLAND
Seems like Poland found couple of things on their K2 tanks that needs to be fixed (translation via Twitter translate post)
But unfortunately, when implementing K2 into the Polish Armed Forces, tests at WITPiS in Sulejówka and at WITU (this also applies to Abrams) were omitted, as a result of which various shortcomings are now emerging that should be corrected.
...
The K2 example does not have a locking lever for releasing the breech wedge. A moment of inattention and someone may lose their fingers while operating or cleaning the cannon. Another example: the lack of a recoil indicator and a solid basket for the bottoms of the shells and a fender. The first one is useful in order not to destroy the resistors in the gun. You don't shoot from the tank like in games. Leopard 2 can fire approximately 11-12 120mm shells in succession. After that, a few more and the indicator will show "Shaden"... K2 does not have such an indicator. There is no need to convince anyone how important the fender and the container for the bottom of the shells (with a very hot igniter) are after the tragic Leopard 2 accident in Świętoszów a few years ago... It would also be useful to seal the APU and battery block to prevent water from getting into it. And the entire drive compartment against rainwater getting into it. That K2 can wade along the bottom? Well, maybe. After preparation – which is a completely different situation. Unfortunately, rainwater gets into the APU, battery and engine compartment because something was wrongly designed and then someone pushed it through with their knee in Korea during tests. I will not mention such details as the lack of a weapon type selection switch in the commander's position, not just the gunner's position (sic!). There are more such issues - from the lack of holders for the crew's weapons in the vehicle, through the terrible ergonomics of the crew hatches, to the prosaic lack of cleaning ALL of the driver's periscope, not just one. There are more examples (again, I can't forgive myself: before using the commander's sight, the crew needs to go outside and open his window cover and secure it) but it's not about "hating" but about stating an obvious fact: K2 is not well-finished in detail and requires corrections .

Don't think I have seen this tweet posted before.
Two * CAMM-MR in a Mk41 VLS caught my interest.
Would certainly be useful if fitted on T26s and maybe T31s (depending on price) to offer the longer range 100KM AAW missile defence to supplement the Aster 30's on T45s.

Re: POLAND
That's because Poland a bigger richer country and like to spend on their country's defense needs to match the world reality ,err oh wait a minute ,well some of that right anyway
Re: POLAND
Breaking Defense has a write up of the UK MOD PR on the UK MBDA brokered deal for a sub-contract to the Polish defence company PGZ for 1,000 CAMM-ER (the mainly MBDA Italy 40 km plus range missile) and over 100 iLaunchers for the Polish NAREW programme, total CAMM-ER programme valued at $4.9 billion, presuming that also includes the funding for the Polish BMC and radar though not stated.
MBDA agreed to an “unprecedented transfer of key technologies and knowledge” assuming for near 100% in country build.

Re: POLAND
It certainly does, question, does the T31 have the necessary radar systems to fully exploit a 60 mile range SAM?wargame_insomniac wrote: ↑26 Oct 2023, 21:17 Don't think I have seen this tweet posted before.

If it does, it's a no brainer, the missile could be loaded accross the T26/31 fleet as missions require.
For example with the T31, escort missions in the Straights of Hormuz, swapping out the land attack for duel mounted CAMM MR, along with its standard CAMM and ' gun slinger' set up would make for a ferocious opponent for anyone stupid enough to try to attack it's convoy via air or sea.

Miecznik For EUR 3.6 Billion – All Frigates (Fully) Armed
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/20 ... lly-armed/On 12 December, the Armament Agency of Polish Ministry of National Defence and the PGZ-MIECZNIK consortium signed annex 4 to the main contract inked on 27 July 2021, which concerns the design and construction of three Project 106 Miecznik frigates for the Polish Navy. It regulates issues related to the completion of the integrated combat system of the second and third units.
