RN has many FMAF (Future Maritime Aviation Force) project.

. F-35B (Obivious) Sounds for new Tranche and a aimed FOC of 24 jets in a CSG.

. Aircraft carrier modification possibilities being looked into project ARK ROYAL.

. VAMPIRE. The Qinetiq BANSHEE 80+ has been procured as a threat simulation drone and replacement for the HAWK T1s of disbanded
736 NAS, but this is intended to be the first role only. VAMPIRE is looking at fitting ISR (EO/IR and a small conformal AESA radar)
equipment onto them

. VIXEN. Longer term, a fixed-wing, multirole drone with a large payload is the aim, to contribute to Strike and to hopefully succeed to CROWSNEST in delivering Airborne Early Warning so the overworked MERLINs can go back to doing ASW "only".

. MOJAVE: the latest announcement for 7 months of evaluations with General Atomics' Short Take Off and Landing solutions for large (MQ-9B PROTECTOR class drones) will be exploring just how far you can go in terms of drone sizes and weights WITHOUT needing to modify the ship.

. PROTEUS: due to fly in 2025, this uncrewed helicopter being developed by Leonardo at Yeovil will have MTOW of 7000 lbs/3000+ kg with large payload. Again, aim is to contribute to AEW and ASW, supporting manned MERLIN. MCM mission is also looking at using air drones in support.

. PRIMUS: Heavy Lift drone(s), supported by a dedicate NAVYPODS container, with the ability to move loads between ships and ship to shore, to ensure VERTREP tasks / carrier on board delivery and many others that do not quite require a manned helicopter are covered more cheaply.

. PEREGRINE / Flexible Tactical UAS: urgent operational requirement for deployed warships, primarily in the Gulf. Shiebel S100 helicopter with EO/IR and Thales I-Master search radar.

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but I was not aware that the amphibious role has been dropped from the QE class is that correct?

But a depressing video on POW

Seen it, does give depressing but sofar mostly truthful outlook on PoW. Video is relatively old in my terms, saw it on release. Amphibious role? I don't really understand.
I believe that the "Amphibious role" / only heli carrier came around in 2020-2022? I remember watching the Andrew Marr show (or maybe it was after he left the BBC) enwich the presenter whas asking Sir Tony Radakin when he was the first sea lord about if PoW would be:
a. Sold to USN
b. Mothballed
c. Only used as heli carrier
d. kept

FSL obviously responded saying what is frankly the truth, being that it was mostly just the telegraph saying stuff and rumours for headlines , and that the media doesn't understand the fundamental fact that their is a such a thing as maintenance and their was never the intent to have two CSG. Sure the RN can and has proven that both carriers can be operated at the same time, it has done so and plans to do so again, but you can't have both with a FOC flight group and escort group. Again, it was never the intention to have 2 CSG's existing at once , ever.
But to many people don't understand maintenance and rotations of the carriers and think we don't have the capacity for PoW in a Aircraft carrier form so we should have it as a sole heli carrier instead. But in reality it's the ships being rotated for CSG duties. Sure, aircraft carriers can be used in an amphibious support role if there is the need, by providing air cover with F-35's and heli duties. Essentially, amphibious role is a misconception but at the same time does actually exist.

Understand what you are saying, but the way I understood the reference was that vessels were not going to be used in the role the way HMS Ocean was used. After all I also remember that these were modified to enhance embarked EMF

"that these were modified to enhance embarked EMF"
I assume you me QEC
probably just more of PoW conversion to heli carrier talk. Non starter.

Rumours were the corridors between compartments on PWLS were enlarged for Commando deployments, unless nipper sneaks aboard QNLZ and dolly steps the width and reports the differences...πŸ€”

Contrary to the video's claim, PoW has been in drydock only twice in it's short life; the first for it's assembly, the second for repairs to the propellor shafts. But a maintenance period in drydock was due about now and planned for anyway.

They first went in to fix the props and shafts, and then decided to push forward the planned dry-dock maintenance.

It's like the whole taking parts off....something that always happens....in reality MacTaggart Scott will be fabricating some new chains and they'll go back on PoW...

The same newspapers would go mental if there was a couple of warehouses full of spare parts for the carriers that were destined never to be used...

Commodore Blackmore flew the last ever sortie of a Harrier from a RN carrier, HMS Ark Royal (R07), in November 2010. At the time, Blackmore was a Flight Commander.

So he'll be the one to sneak down in the middle of the night with some Dulux Emulsion and paint "Royal Navy" on the sides of all the F-35's then!?!

Looks like nippers stint on PWLS may be over sooner than his next draft officially starts, apparently they have 10 gunners on board with feck all for them to do. Let off early for good behaviour?

Beat me to it!
2023 PoW deployment is going to be interesting with all the trials; Mojave, F-35B SRVL.
As for 2024 I don't know what the carriers are planning to do as CdG is the French/British carrier planned for the east Asia deployment that year.
2025 we will have PoW for-filling the french/British agreement , That year being the one where all of the 48 (-3 US, -1 crashed, so 42) of the Tranche 1 will have been delivered. I don't believe there will be FOC of 24 F-35B by then, nor UAV complement. Hopefully by 2025 a new tranche will have been ordered. Also in 2025, first of tempest and the hypersonic aircraft project. 2030 is the year to look at with T26+FSS+T45upgraded and something pretty close to FOC for FMAF .

I quite like the star though!

More importantly, the name. Mojave isn't exactly very British and we renamed Predator B.

My vote would be for Gannet or Sea Gannet after our previous, fixed-wing, single prop, ASW and AEW platform!

Good choice!

As it’s a first for the Royal Navy my vote would be for VAMPIRE in memory of Eric β€œWinkle” Brown’s first landing of a jet aircraft on a ship when he landed on HMS Ocean on 3rd December 1945.
