I would guess with all that scum, she's been patrolling Southampton Water.BZ and welcome home. Vanguard class submarine inbound to Falsane today after a patrol lasting more than 6 months.

Has she been operating in warmer waters? Or has the water just got warmer?

And with the DS on board.
Not good.

Perhaps another try very very soon would be a good idea.

however we are confident that the anomaly was event specific, and therefore there are no implications for the reliability of the wider Trident missile systems and stockpile

Does that mean they let Grant Shapps press the button and it won’t happen again?

If this is a 2nd failure of the system and given current world events, is this really a good enough response?

Re: Vanguard Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) (RN)
The translation is….we don’t have any funding allocated to test another one.

Or maybe: We don't dare to launch another one, because what if that one fails too?Poiuytrewq wrote: ↑21 Feb 2024, 09:23The translation is….we don’t have any funding allocated to test another one.

Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

I suspect its a little of column a and a little of column b.
While I don't expect (and never want to see) any hard details on this, the "Trust me bro" reaction from the MOD does not inspire confidence.
In this day and age with lunatics invading their neighbors and considerable amounts of money being spent on this system I don't think its too much to ask for some reassurances.

That's even worse.

And don't forget they are British built warheads on top of the US missile.
Re: Vanguard Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) (RN)
Is it unreasonable to expect a retest in the near future once the investigation has explained what went wrong on this test? We can't go another 7-8 years without a successful test fire to demonstrate the issues have been resolved when launching from a British sub.
Re: Vanguard Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) (RN)
Hopefully not on the one that failed
Re: Vanguard Class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine (SSBN) (RN)
Listening to the def select committee that doesn't appear to be the case. The anomaly was specific to the the test not the sub or missile. Whatever that means.
