Why dont we launch missiles like this?

For everything else UK defence-related that doesn't fit into any of the sections above.

Why dont we launch missiles like this?

Post by shark bait »

All this talk of light firgates reminded me of an idea I had a while back. It looks alot like this russian system, but with the torpedo launched tomahawk. Cold launched on deck, no mess, it could be put on anything without the hassle of the MK41 VLS.

Is there a reason why we dont launch missiles like this? it seems like a lovely system. Ive never see an example of this within NATO.

In operation since the 1980's - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPK-6_Vodopad/RPK-7_Veter
