Never thought I would see the MOD being praised for its efficiency, and by the USA to boot :-

it amazes me in the UK how logistics in govt & local govt is so chaotic. Would it not be sensible for common items like stationary, office furniture, food etc to be provided by one agency rather that every govt department, council, NHS trust. agency etc having its own purchasing and supply chain for theses items. The specialist stuff they need could be delt with by smaller in house teams.

Privatisation is not always a good thing, I have heard that some of the catering contractors are providing food that is not fit for pigs let alone humans. But on the whole with the reduction of Service manning the contractors do pay a big part in keeping everything ticking over.
