Damen Lays Keel of SIGMA 10514 Long Range Patrol Vessel for Mexican Navy
On Thursday 17th August, the Secretary of the Mexican Navy, Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberón Sanz, took part in a symbolic coin ceremony at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) at Vlissingen in the Netherlands. He was accompanied by the Secretary of National Defense, General Salvador Cienfuegos. The Coin Ceremony is an event which takes place at the keel laying, in the early stages of a ship's construction. In it, the shipbuilders place one or two coins under the keelblock of the new ship to bless the ship and as a symbol of good fortune. On this occasion, the vessel is a Damen Sigma 10514 Long Range Patrol Vessel.

An image of the Sigma 10514 in Mexican Navy configuration has been released. Compared to the Indonesian Frigate, the Mexican vessel is fitted with a BAE Systems Bofors 57Mk3 57mm main gun (in place of a 76mm), a 12.7mm remote weapon system right behind it (in place of a Rheinmetall 27MLG CIWS). Similar to the PKR, the Mexican Navy opted for the Smart Mk2 radar by Thales. It appears that the Mexican "Long Range Patrol Vessel" will not be fitted with VLS cells but a Raytheon RAM launcher will be fitted on top of the helicopter hangar.
The Mexican ship has a standard displacement of 2,575 tons, a length of 107.14 meters, a width of 14.08 meters and a draft of 3.75 meters. The two-shaft diesel-electric power plant (CODOE) includes two 9240 kW diesel engines, six 735 kW diesel generators and two electric motors. It has a maximum speed of 28 knots, economic 18 knots, low noise 14 knots. Its range is 5,000 nautical miles at economic speed, with an endurance of 20 days. Full fuel capacity is 300 tons. The crew consists of 122 sailors.
Weapon systems will include Boeing RGM-84L Harpoon Block II anti-ship missile launchers (most likely four), 8x VLS for ESSM, one Raytheon RAM launcher, one 57mm Mk 3 BAE Systems Bofors main gun, two 25mm Rafael Typhoon Mk 38 Mod 2 remotely-controlled artillery mounts, six 12.7mm M2 machine guns and two three-tube Mk 32 SVTT torpedo launchers for raytheon mk 54 mod 0. The hangar can accommodate an MH-60R Seahawk multipurpose (anti-submarine) helicopter. The ship is equipped with a Thales SMART-S Mk 2 radar, Raytheon Anschütz Synapsis navigation radar, a Thales Captas-2 towed sonar, Thales TACTICOS combat system and ERA Indra Rigel electronic warfare suite.
Typical heavy-corvette or light-light frigate, and heavily armed.

I wonder, why Mexico needs this kind of heavily armed ships? After all, their only military danger comes from USA, and they are not goeing to deterr USN with this. IMHO, Coast Guard is enough for them...

Mexican Navy POLA-class ARM ‘Reformador’ Completes Acceptance Trials
The Mexican Navy (Armada de México) announced that its first of class Patrulla Oceánica de Largo Alcance (long range oceanic patrol vessel or POLA) ARM “Reformador” successfully completed its Sea Acceptance Trials (SAT).

In that size class the main trade off seems to be for the patrol vessels to be "helicopter heavy" and the escort vessels (the Finnish Pohjanmaa class as an example) putting more emphasis (money) on air defences, as evidenced by the SeaRAM or Mica vs. ESSM Block2
