Some governments are more enthusiastic about building ships than others.
Would the construction of three 135m HADR ships be welcomed in Birkenhead for example?
More of a priority for a different administration than building warships?
Who knows?

There is a very few destroyers with length over 160m-165m, for example Arleigh Burke-class destroyer later batches are 155m long. But I guess, in the worst case they could keep that door open and make ships protruding outside hall for couple of meters when building comes into that stage.
All I know is that T26 is already 150, so what about the next generation? To be fare, we don't know what that generation (T83) will look like so...sol wrote: ↑16 Oct 2023, 19:33There is a very few destroyers with length over 160m-165m, for example Arleigh Burke-class destroyer later batches are 155m long. Well it was also supposed to be main shipyard for future submarines. ... could be actually somewhat smaller than Govan's new 170 by 80 metres hall (not sure how high it would be). Main advantage of Osborn is probably space for extension compared to Govan. The largest building in the new complex is known as Building 22, and is 80 metres (260 ft) high with a footprint of 170 by 50 metres (560 ft × 160 ft), large enough for assembly of two frigates other than the upper superstructure.
And if the Navantia cheerleaders get the Hunters cancelled and 4 extra Hobart’s built in Spain what does Osborne build? If it’s 6x A140’s by Babcock that will take around 7 years.sol wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 15:58Well it was also supposed to be main shipyard for future submarines. Its a damming indictment of the other Scottish Shipyards that not even the Scottish Government will order even simple OPV's from them to cover Scottish Fishery Protection.
And then they have the brass balls to complain that the UK government is not investing in Scottish ship building twatswargame_insomniac wrote: ↑25 Oct 2023, 19:49Its a damming indictment of the other Scottish Shipyards that not even the Scottish Government will order even simple OPV's from them to cover Scottish Fishery Protection.
By other Scottish Shipyards I am excluding Govan and Rosyth. From memory is it Ferguson Marine that was building those ferries??
what is that, 1 large ship / support ship, 1 escort ship, 2 minor vessels per year.
